Changing the battery
Flip key
- Swing the key blade open first. On most flip keys the cell lives in the body behind the hinge.
- Find the seam or small slot on the body (often at the end away from the blade) and twist a coin or small flat screwdriver in it until the cover lifts.
- Take out the old cell, noting which side faced you, and fit the new one the same way.
- Press the halves together until no gap shows, then try every button.
A CR2450 is 24.5 mm across and 5.0 mm thick, much fatter than a CR2032. A thinner cell will rattle and lose contact, so buy the exact size.
Keep spare coin cells away from small children. A swallowed coin cell can burn the throat within hours; if it happens, go to an emergency room at once.
